Appendix: Lines Drawings

The lines of the underwater portion of the hulls are shown in the following 'screenshots' from the first author's computer program Michlet. Some of the data in the screen shots applies to multihull configurations, and can be ignored for the purposes of the present paper. The section in white with the red cross near the keel-line is a way to show which particular offset is ready to be edited and has no other significance.

In some cases, a small 'kink' can be seen in the lines near the centreline. This is due to the use of only 21 evenly-spaced waterlines and 21 evenly-spaced stations. These kinks do not introduce great errors, although more offests would have been preferable. The downside of using more offsets is, of course, that considerably greater (human) effort is required in the data preparation for the non-mathematical hulls.
